10. Operating the Service

The complete Sunday operating sequence still needs to be developed. It should cover:

• Camera assignments and normal positions.
• When to use CUT or AUTO.

Think one shot ahead

As soon as the current Preview source is moved to Program, immediately begin preparing the next shot in Preview. Choose the next camera or source, frame it if necessary, and have it ready before it is needed.

The operator should normally be watching what is live while also preparing what comes next.

• Following a speaker and framing musicians or groups.
• Timing lower thirds.
• Avoiding setup activity in the program picture.
• Using congregation and room views.
• Monitoring online sound and confirming the stream remains live.
• Responding to changes in the order of service.
• Communication between sound and video operators.
