3. Sunday Startup

The original instruction says to begin at approximately 9:00 a.m. because startup and testing take time. Some original steps may now be replaced by automation. Until those scripts are fully documented and tested, the manual procedure is preserved as a recovery method.

3.1 Initial room and sound-booth tasks

The original manual instructs the operator to:

  • Raise the Grand Master on the manual lighting console at the far-right side of the video-booth counter.
  • Turn on the three required power switches in the sound booth.
  • Check the required button positions for sound-board channels 29/30 and 31/32.
  • Start the lobby television and service slideshow from the sound-booth computer.

Verification required

Confirm whether these sound-booth steps still apply following the M32 installation and recent routing changes.

3.2 Connect computerized lighting

  1. Locate the sanctuary DMX cable connected to the manual lighting console.
  2. Disconnect it carefully.
  3. Connect it to Port A of the NX DMX interface behind the lighting/control monitors.
  4. Align the connector pins correctly. Do not force the plug.

3.3 Start the Lighting PC

Use the installed Lighting PC label (formerly Computer C1).

  • Turn on the Lighting PC under the counter and the Lighting Monitor.
  • Sign in using the current booth credential.
  • Start ONYX.
  • Start ONYX Manager, if it is still required.
  • Approve any required permission prompt.
  • If the sanctuary lights go out while ONYX loads, select the normal room-lighting preset.

Passwords must not appear in this handbook.

3.4 Start the Control/Streaming PC

Use the installed Control/Streaming PC label (formerly Computer C2).

  • Turn on the Control/Streaming PC, the Companion/BoxCast Monitor, and the ATEM Control Monitor.
  • Sign in.
  • Start Companion using Launch GUI, if it does not start automatically.
  • Connect power to the ATEM control unit if that remains the approved method.
  • Start ATEM Software Control.
  • Open Companion and check its connections.

3.5 Verify the ATEM connection

If Companion does not show a healthy ATEM connection:

  1. Open ATEM Setup or ATEM Software Control.
  2. Find the ATEM's current network address.
  3. Open the ATEM connection in Companion.
  4. Compare the target address with the address shown by the ATEM.
  5. Select the correct address and save.
  6. If it is unavailable, close Companion completely and restart it.

3.6 Start the OBS PC

Use the installed OBS PC label (formerly Computer C3).

  • Turn on the camera-control joystick.
  • Turn on booth microphone equipment if required.
  • Turn on the three station monitors: Camera Multiview, Program View, and OBS Control.
  • Turn on the OBS PC and confirm that its tower lights appear.
  • Sign in and start OBS.
  • Confirm that camera multiview, program output, and OBS workspace appear on the correct screens.
  • Return to Companion and confirm that its OBS connection is healthy.

3.7 Printer

The original manual says to turn on the booth printer.

Determine whether the printer is needed every Sunday or only when printing.
